Diecast 30th Anniversary Voltron now available at BBTS!

Finally after months of waiting, the 30th Anniversary Voltron is now available. It's the same basic 20th Anniversary diecast figure that was limited to 15,000 figures but with some upgrades including LED eyes, display stand with sound effects and spot for lion weapons and a lion key gimmick that works just like it does in the show! Don't miss your chance at owning this. Those who slept on the 20th Anniversary edition regretted it once prices skyrocketed. Get your very own at BigBadToyStore!

Anime Export Exclusive Neo Getter Black Version LE 1500

If you follow my Facebook you may have seen my post about a lost Aoshima Neo Getter Black Version Anime Export Limited Exclusive. Well USPS finally got around to delivering it. Aside from that, the only issue I had was a broken arm blade tip. This is because this figure has elbow joints that are friction fit to the upper arm. Due to the weight of the diecast forearm and low friction of the joint, the forearms fall off easily. This was the case with mine. The arms came off and banged around inside the box causing the blade tip to break. It's suck a small break that its not noticeable but it still sucks.

Anyways, enough nitpicking. This is a $40 (currently 70% off!) figure released by Aoshima as an Anime-Export limited release of 1500 units. Apparently not as popular as expected. However the figure is beautiful and HEAVY. Its almost all diecast metal. Deserving of a spot in your display case or shelf.
Each box comes numbered. 1500 units made.
The box surface has a gridlike texture.
The back has some bold red font bearing the name of the set.
The tray is all styrofoam for safely securing the figure in the box. Unfortunately because of it loos elbows, the forearms fall all and bang about.
The figure has a beautiful glossy black finish all over its metal body. As you can see, the forearms will stay on. There is enough friction to keep them on during display but not so much during posing. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the extending elbow which allows more articulation of the elbows. It's a shame the elbows aren't very secure but if you deal with figures, you know tightening joints is a couple of drops of glue/nail polish/floor polish away.
The figure has a very basic but appealing design.
The doors on top of the pods on the back open up to reveal two holes where included missiles can be placed and shot out. The missiles are just like old school missiles so be careful. (not safe for kids)
Another neat feature is the glow-in-the-dark panels on the body and eyes.
I suggest snatching one of these up at Anime-Export.com while they are still available. This all for the price of a couple of cheap plastic transformers.

VARIABLE ACTION Hi-SPEC CHORIKO ROBO GALATT leg fix

While waiting on my Choriko Robo Galatt figure, I read about problems people were having with standing this figure up. When I got mine, I stood it up and its been standing there ever since. It seems the legs do a split. I was looking to see why and it seems there are TEENY and I do mean TEENY little tabs that have been given the job of holding all this diecast weight together. A rather poor design I agree.

So here is my figure. Normally the figure doesn't like to stand at all. It would do a crazy split.

Upon closer inspection, I found that those two bars that run down have teeny hooks at the ends. Those "hooks" snap underneath those openings in the legs. Fiddling around by moving the butt piece away from the figure allowed me to see that there are also hooks on the opposite sides of the leg making a total of four hooks that have to tab in. While I eventually got them to snap in together I felt that eventually this would wear down. What a crappy design to be honest. If the entire hook piece tabbed underneath, it would probably hold better, but it's the very teeny tooth on the hook that tabs in...barely. On top of that they are stressed from the legs wanting to pull out.

I wasn't happy with eventually wearing out the tabs, so I devised a different way of keeping the legs together. You know those clear elastic bands that come with almost every action figure? I used one of those and wrapped it around the top of the thighs. I lifted with skirt flaps so you can see it a little bit better.
Depending on what size elastic band you use, you may need some more tension. I used an elastic from the packaging fo the 6" Stormtrooper which was a little too big, so instead of double it up and making too much tension, I just hooked the elastic around the butt piece for a little more tension.
Once you have it situated how you want it, fold the skirts down.
Once you swing down the crotch wings, its invisible! Enjoy.
This only fixes the legs from splitting apart when not using the built in hooks. If the legs still split, try using a smaller elastic for more tension. If your figure suffers from loose ankle then this fix won't help.

2013 Chogokin Summit

I honestly didn't think I would make it out to the Summit due to work staffing but the Chogokin Gods paved the way. I was to overwhelmed walking around and meeting people that I didnt get a lot of footage. I picked up some great stuff at the meet. Can't wait for next year!
