Once in a while I come across some cool little cheap vinyl. Got these guys for $20. Don't know the year but the condition and sculpt points towards vintage. I love the look of Japanese vinyl. It has a cool shiny look to it that I dont find in modern chinese Bandai vinyl. My daugter is going to go crazy when she sees these on display!
Some collectors my scoff at the idea of picking up figures in this condition, but I actually don't mind. This figure shows it was lovingly played with by a child who probably used his imagination to pretend he was fighting some huge Kaiju. This figure is about 5.5"
The back shows the Popy logo and "JAPAN" and what I can only assume is copyright info.
This is the other figure that came in the lot. It's a bit smaller, possibly 4.5". It is also well played with but not abused.
This figure also states Popy Japan.
If anyone can provide more info on these, that would be great.

Holy cow, it's finally here! I've been waiting forever for this figure. Instead of going to the usual places like HLJ.com, amiami.com and BBTS, I got this from Amazon.com. I'm talking Amazon themselves, not some shady seller. Amazon gets these from the US Tamashii distributor Blue Fin so you can expect to pay fair prices instead of getting gouged by a reseller or waiting and paying for the trip from overseas. It also qulaified for free shipping. There was a bit of a delay in its release but it's here and I'm happy.

Amazing right out of the box. Pretty heavy too. A big chunk of PVC.
The detail is great. Each stroke of the sculptor's tool is captured to create an excellent piece.
The detailing of the mouth is very well done. Notice the texture of the tongue. Each individual tooth is detailed. While the eyes looked a tad off, they were very detailed.
This figure is highly articulated, look at how many seam lines are used for the neck alone. The base of the neck has another neck piece which can't be seen in this picture.
The scales are done well although depending on the pose, the scales may collide, so be careful when posing so no paint scuffing occurs.
Here he is in flight mode. I'm sure I could have done a better job at posing it in this fashion. Here you can see most of his articulaiton joints. Look at all those seam lines...especially the tail!
He comes with this effects piece which mimics him shooting from the mouth. The base has an icy look to it.
The effect is OK, but the stand deters from the look of it. When will invisibility technology catch up with toys? Overall an incredibly well done Godzilla. I was afraid the articulation points were going to ruin the look of Godzilla but Bandai managed to pull this off well.
A diecast Ultraman...need I say much more? Even thought this one is in good shape, it's rather loose so exciting poses are out of the question...well as exciting as a toy from the 70's could pull off. I love it all the same.
He comes with three little rubber Kaiju figures that are much smaller than him.
Sort of a signature move...the best I could do without him flopping around.
He looks so vintagey. I wish I could tighten his joints but they are riveted.

I just love Godzilla. I used to watch any low budget giant monster flick as a kid, but my favorite above all was Godzilla. I used to have nightmares where I would open the door to my house and in the horizon was Godzilla walking towards us. It was very scary to say the least. While I don't have those nightmares anymore, I still surround myself with Godzilla stuff. I mostly collect whatever is cheap. Godzilla can be expensive if you try to only collect the really vintage stuff. Thankfully Bandai still provides us which cheap alternatives. What's awesome is that you can walk into Toys R Us and still find a few pegs full of Godzilla stuff. You can even find the big vinyl too. What's the deal? these things never go on sale, yet they never seem to sell. Well apparently they are because a new wave of freshly done box art has made it's way into TRU the past year. I failed miserable for not picking up the small Mecha Godzilla when I had it in my hands about a year ago. I didn't wanna spend the 11 bucks to get it, now it's not sold and eBay prices SUCK. So to avoid this happening again, I pick up all new Godzilla vinyl I see at TRU. I have all of them now that I found these two (except the small Mecha Godzilla!).

I happened upon SpaceGodzilla and Gigan a couple of days ago. The only two I've seen. I go to TRU a lot. A LOT. I gotta buy baby formula at Babies R Us so I always stop by the toy section. They are really cool cheap fun vinyl that you can let kids play with when they come over.

I saw these figures over at Toy Fair and they looked real sweet. Atom of CollectionDX had been talking about these but I had no clue how good they really were till I hit up the Bandai booth. I decided to track these down and found them for the awesome price of $9.99 each! That's right Bandai vinyl figures for less than 10 bucks. I swiped up both. They are incredible detailed for their price. These could easily cost way more if they were made by a high end vinyl company. The vinyl feels sturdy and has a nice smooth texture on Vilgax and a white/black matte finish on Highbreed. Highbreed has articulation on the shoulders and hips. Vilgax is limited to the shoulders.
HIGHBREED
I like how the very first time you try and move the arms, they "snap" due to the material sticking. Then they free up. Leave them alone for a few minutes and you get to unsnap them again. Real cool. They are about 9" tall. I suggest picking both of these up even if you are just a very casual vinyl collector like me. I know they got the four armed red guy coming out soon so pick that one up too. I only have a few Godzillas and these. I love em. I hope to do a full review of these on collectiondx.com some day.
