I can't get enough good third party stuff lately. There was a piece I had been putting off buying for no good reason. That would be the animated head for the Masterpiece MP-01 from iGear. I think it made a big difference in the look of my Prime... for the better. $18 shipped from iGear

CHMS KO SUNSTREAKER / TIGERTRACK with shoulder cannon
I had never heard of this KO until I plain just saw it on clearance for $13. Great price, but is it a great figure? I would have to say YES. I was pleasantly surprised at its quality for a KO. Some things weren't perfect like how the engine would not clip to Sunstreaker's back. A little filing took care of that. I recently decided to convert this KO into a Tigertrack figure which was easily done with a Sideswipe head I had laying around and the already existing shoulder cannon which is another ill-fitting piece. It pegs in but quickly pops out of the shoulder. In the end, still worth what I paid. Makes a great stand in for a legit Sunstreaker. Videos below.
FYI: KO on left, Hasbro on right |
This Sunstreaker was quickly converted into Tigertrack. |
X-Transbots X1 Glider / Air Robot not POWERGLIDE
The first version of this mold I got was the Wildchild/Explorer. While it was cool, I still wanted the original Powerglide colors. I was a tad too late to buy the first release Glider/Air Robot at the time and the only other version of this was the G.I. Joe Crossover version. Not for me. I happened upon a second release of this guy which I quickly jumped on. No improvements to be seen on this release as it still has the weird arm that moves on its own and pops off easily. While not the be all end all Powerglide, it sure is one of the best looking versions of him out there. You can find one right now for $45-60.
"To stop me, you have to catch me first" |
Very good looking, but could benefit from some slight refinements to make it perfect. Namely the shoulders. |

VIP Toys Tour in Medellin, Colombia
Do you guys remember the post I did about VIP Toys a while back? Of course not. I don't even know if people read this blog. But if you do, then you may wanna check out this vid I did during my visit in April. Took me forever to get this up, but it's up now. Thanks to Leonardo and VIP Toys. Like them on Facebook!
Beelzeboss Heroic Duo Custom Kit for SIDESWIPE & RED ALERT
I ordered this a while back only to find out I never checked out my cart on the web page. I was about to complain about my order and then I realized I hadn't ordered it. Luckily it was still in stock. I have to say, this is a pretty awesome set. The first set of pictures and video review I did I had the shoulder pieces on backwards so I had to redo everything!
In this picture, I had the shoulder pieces installed wrong! Back to the drawing board. |
Here is the set properly installed. The set will set you back about $30-$40 plus the cost of the figures themselves. |

Medicom Real Action Heroes Star Wars STORMTROOPER 1/6 scale
This figure has been on my radar for a LONG time. The problem was its aftermarket pricing. I happened upon a used one on eBay at just the right price so I jumped on it. It is a 1/6 Scale figure.

Better Masterpiece Optimus Prime distribution?
I was suckered into going to the mall again by my wife so I decided to make a pitstop after I found out it was the only TRU in like a 50 mile radius to have them in stock. I rushed in since I'm sure Jersey scalpers were in full effect this Sunday.
Upon entering the store, I rushed to the Transformers isle where just as I was about to be disappointed, I saw 3 MPs laying there. Before I had a chance to even grab one, I looked up and saw that there was a tower of MP-10's! Of course I grabbed a sealed case!

Transformers MP-12 LAMBOR Sideswipe in-hand pictures
I received my BBTS Pile of Loot today and my MP-12 was part of it! I opened this a little to late in the night to take proper pictures but I had to at least post something up. The only thing I could say bad about this is that it has some sloppy paint apps, but the figure itself is awesome. The vehicle mode itself is small but the size in robot mode looks bigger than expected despite its small alternate mode. Looks to be my favorite TF of the year. Stay tuned for proper pictorial/video review.

I've been lazy in getting a review together for this guy. I've had him about a week already. That and the shipping took crazy long because it was help up in NYC. Look for a video review soon. Doesn't look like you can buy him by himself though.

My favs of Tamashii Nations 2012: Diecast Gunpla and Chogokin Mazinger Z Rocket Punch
Out of all the stuff I've seen from the coverage of Tamashii nations (Aside from the GX-62 Dangurad Ace) these are the two things I'm looking forward to because they look like they are loaded with diecast.

Guest appearance on CDX show Episode 48
I attended the 2012 Comic Con with JoshB of CDX and we did a follow-up video where I was a guest and we talked about some cool stuff. We talked about our hauls, the future of the Soul of Chogokin line, including a possible Golion!
Comic Con Voltron Haul- Korean Diecast? New Lionbot box Variant?
I went to Comic Con to do coverage for CollectionDX.com. I didn't have any plans to buy anything but of course I spent a few bucks there...more than I could ever imagine. Aside from dumping a load of cash on Gunpla (which I never thought I'd start up again) I also came across some exciting Voltron items.
Now here's the thing that makes this find special:
- The Korean Set had DIECAST lions in it (Korean sets are all plastic)
- The Trendmasters set happened to not even be a Trendmasters set- it was a variant LIONBOT box!
- These belonged to the owner of Media-Blasters, the makers of the Voltron DVD and they had a very important role in the making of the DVDs!
OK, I nerded way too much as is evident in the video I made for CDX. Read the full story by checking out the article I did for CollectionDX.
If you want an in depth look at the two sets, check out this video:
So happy...
JoshB of CDX spotted these in a corner and my traction beam was activated. |

Bandai Golion and Korean Voltron Model kits
As most of my followers know, I bought a few Voltron items at Comic Con. Aside from the big sets, I bought two small kits. I don't plan on ever building them since I really only bought them for the artwork. The Bandai Golion kit is on the left and features a very classic representation on my favorite robot. The Korean kit shows a lesser seen rendition of this robot, but awesome nonetheless.
Check out the kit contents below:

Transformers First Edition Terrorcon Cliffjumper
I missed out on the First Edition Cliffjumper when the First Editions were released and then quickly cancelled. Lucky for us, Hasbro has once again released the First Edition line. This time around, Cliffjumper comes in the awesome zombie form he takes on when covered in Dark Energon. This is the Terrorcon Cliffjumper. Simply awesome.
You'll see Hasbro brought back the same First Edition packaging from the first release. This new version of CJ differs in that the artwork shows his zombified self up top. |
He's all beat up and covered in Dark Energon. His robot mode has the alternate zombie head with cracked horn. If you want to see it, check out the video below. |
Yamato MetalBox Metalboy MB Gokin Dragon Getter
I'm a fan of the ES-Gokin line. They are small and beautiful pieces of Gokin. Artstorm/Fewture now has competition from Yamato in the form of the MB Gokin Line. So far they seem to be on par if not better than what I have seen from the ES Gokin line in terms of quality and finish. Video below.
Fewture EX Gokin Gatchaman G-5 God Phoenix Repaint Version
As a very young kid, I found myself catching a fair amount of Battle of the Planets episodes. Battle of the Planets was based off of the Japanese anime Gatchaman. It was also known as G-Force and Eagle Riders(?). Fewture has re-released their Unit G-5 gokin in repainted colors. I don't exactly know what difference there is in the paint as I don't have the original.
Honestly, I really like that this was made. However I wish it didn't have little problems that a small $100 diecast shouldn't have. Problems like bad paint apps that are gone over by hand with a brush. It makes it look sloppy. On a huge piece, this would be unnoticeable, but on a tiny diecast, it's an eyesore. For big fans only.
Again, maybe a bit too pricey given it's size. The price is probably due to a low number run (I assume.)
Here's my video review.

The box is exactly what you would expect from a high end collectible. Thick corrugated cardboard box with foil lettering and colorful graphics. |
Again, high end packaging here folks. Super thick styrofoam holding all the contents in place. |
It is a very beautiful piece that is mostly diecast metal. It feels good in the hands. From this distance, you don't notice much of the imperfections. |
The G-5 looks awesome in this view. |
The set comes with some alternate booster pieces and some landing gear which surprisingly is metal. I guess maybe not surprisingly given the weight of the figure. |
Here's my video review.
